The Russians are great chess players. They bide their time and wait for the opponent to make a mistake...in this case, the mistake is the election of Obama as President of the United States. They have pounced. Knowing that our young, naive waif of a leader can't wait to make a deal - and have the sycophant press trumpet it - they have offered up a doozy in "New START." Sadly, we will not see any Reykjavik moments out of this guy...remember when Ronald the Great stood down Gorbachev and refused to trade SDI? That was then, this is now. With New START, not only will the Russians start to gain parity in delivery systems,they will hobble our conventional delivery superiority as well...you know, the part of the Armed Forces we are using a lot right now to combat Muslim fascists. Remember how the press ridiculed George W. Bush's looking into Putin's soul? Yeah, well Barry O is looking in Putin's eye's apparently and seeing great things. Meanwhile, the Chinese, Iranians and Koreans are smiling and the Japanese are getting very nervous.
This deal and this summit have been a win-win for Putin and Obama though. A win-lose for Russian and the United States. Both get to claim diplomatic triumph! Putin will crow about how he has brought the high-flying eagle to within the bear claw's reach. Obama will claim it is "peace in our time." And the main-stream press will claim, as the ABC radio reported on Monday, that it is a "blockbuster" deal. With those pesky nuclear weapons out of the way, Barry can get down to what he is apparently really good at: destroying the American economy. He has thrown a bone to the America-hating-left by continuing the arms control "process," and weakening the United States...that ought to give him some street "cred" with those folks to keep them off his back on Iraq and Afghanistan so he can focus on wrecking health care and telling us how to change our light bulbs.
