Polls

There are more polls being produced daily than the number of new agencies established by Obamacare.  The general sense is that there is a tidal wave of conservatism coming.  Humorist P.J. O'Rourke commented that "it isn't an election, it's a restraining order."  That's my sense of it too...people are just fed up with being told what is good for them by Washington.  The Republicans tried it too and got their desserts in 2006...now the Dems are on the roasting spit

No doubt the left wing consortium that are called the "national media" will opine that the American people are pitching a hissy fit, but interestingly, one poll may have some answers...from none other than the New York Times!

Take a look:
(Hat tip DB)

Across every demographic, the folks have swung right.  This is the Reagan Coalition coalescing to give the Republicans another chance...let's pray they don't blow it again.  The message is simple: stop the spending, stop the expansion of government and put the decision making back in the hands of the American people. We DO know what's good for us.

Military Ballots

There really is no excuse for this...NONE.  Our young men and women are deployed overseas obeying the orders of their Commander-in-Chief and they are not allowed the right to vote?  That's the opinion of Democrats in Illinois...fortunately, the Justice Department (amazingly!) has stepped in and said the date gets extended.  Similar mischief is afoot in New York and Maryland, and it is revolting.
It's bad enough that the Liberals like to use the Armed Forces for their pet sociology experiments, but can't they at least not try to deprive them of their voice?

NPR Fires the Truth

I disagree with a whole lot of what Juan Williams says, but I respect that he stands by his beliefs.  The Nationalist Peoples' Radio network apparently can't handle ANY deviation from the party line, so they will no longer accept Mr. Williams on their precious, totally taxpayer subsidized network.  What?  A liberal not allowed on NPR?   What could he possibly have said that is so damming?

Well it happened on O'Reilly's show on FOX last night.  O'Reilly had a dust up on the Vagina Monologues...err, The View, where he uttered the grossly untrue statement that "Muslims attacked us on 9/11."  This horrendous accusation
caused Whoopi and Joey to walk off the set in an indignant huff.

Funny, I thought Muslims DID attack us on 9/11.  No, not every Muslim on the planet, but I'm pretty sure the Amish didn't do it, nor the Zoroastrians...hmmm, the Catholic nuns?  They caused some mild trauma in my childhood education, but they didn't fly planes into buildings.  What was O'Reilly's error?  It wasn't "Muslims" that did it, it was "Extremists."  Of course!  Extremists!  Well, we had better be double-checking all the "extremists" to make sure they don't try to repeat that grisly act.

Coming to an airport near you:

TSA AGENT: "Are you a Christian 'extremist'?"
PASSENGER: "I believe that Jesus Christ is the risen Lord...
TSA AGENT: "Come with me, you're under arrest."
TSA AGENT 2: "Quick check out those Mennonites over there, they've got some old-fashioned dresses on..."
TSA AGENT: "Will do, as soon as I finish cuffing this Buddhist monk.

Extremists, indeed.  So that's what got Bill in trouble, but Juan?  Well, he said the following:
"Look, Bill, I'm not a bigot. You know the kind of books I've written about the civil rights movement in this country. But when I get on the plane, I got to tell you, if I see people who are in Muslim garb and I think, you know, they are identifying themselves first and foremost as Muslims, I get worried. I get nervous."
WHOA NELLIE!  OFF WITH HIS HEAD!!

OK, dear reader, who among you after 9/11 does not get a little uneasy when you are boarding a plane and the guy in front of you, obviously from the Middle East, is wearing "Muslim garb" and his wife is in a burka? Let's have a show of hands...OK, you can put them all down now.  I have a Muslim friend who has told me it makes HIM nervous when he sees people in "Muslim garb" in a crowded place.

This is suicide by multiculturalism.  But it isn't even multiculturalism - this is cultural preference and reverse bigotry.  Sorry Juan, the purification of the left is nearing completion and you are no longer allowed on the bus.

VDH on the Reemergence of the Evil Empire

The Oracle speaks:

A Sign From Above

This photograph taken a few weeks ago when a tornado swept over Manhattan and touched down in Brooklyn has to be a sign:

Me thinks that Lady Liberty is getting amped up for what is about to happen on November 2! I was listening to the BBC this morning whilst shaving and they had a reporterette up in Wisconsin incredulously questioning voters on why they were even considering getting rid of Russ Feingold (Rasmussen has Johnson, the Republican, up 5%).  Gotta love the Cheesehead response when the Beeb reporter asked why he would be voting for Johnson:  "Lady, have you been living in a cave?  I don't want the government running my life!"

In the words of William Wallace: "Freeeedom!"

Is it Safe?

Our headline comes from one of the creepiest scenes in moviedom, the dental torture of Dustin Hoffman by Sir Lawrence Olivier in "The Marathon Man:"

One can look at that scene and substitute the American voter for Dustin Hoffman and Obama, Harry and Nancy as the thugs and "White Angel," and that pretty much sums up the feeling of the past two years.  We do now know, however, that perception is catching up to the reality.  In the latest Investor's Business Daily Poll, we see a sharp drop in the perception of safety by the American public:

Sentient voters who follow the news know we are considerably less safe than we were two years ago.  A small sampling of facts would bear this out:

  • Domestic terror attacks under Bush after the invasion of Afghanistan and Iraq?  ZERO.  Since Obama took office?  FIVE.
  • NASA was an agency conducting scientific research in space under Bush; it's primary mission under Obama is "Muslim outreach."
  • Under Bush, the military had a clear objective.  Under Obama they have a clear withdrawal date.  If you are the Taliban, what would you do?
  • Remember when Israel was our ally?
  • Under Bush we were trying to build a fence on the border  - they weren't doing a bang up job about it, but at least we weren't suing states that try to protect themselves from the illegal alien invasion!
You get the point and it looks like reality is catching up to Msr. Barry.

American Physicist: "Global Warming Most Successful Pseudoscientific Fraud"

Hal Lewis, an Emeritus Professor of Physics at UC Santa Barbara has resigned from the American Physical Society with a letter that should be read aloud before every showing of Al Gore's histrionic "Earth in the Balance."  Lewis not only lays bare the scientific quackery of the global warming scam, he points directly to the money involved:

It is of course, the global warming scam, with the (literally) trillions of dollars driving it, that has corrupted so many scientists, and has carried APS before it like a rogue wave. It is the greatest and most successful pseudoscientific fraud I have seen in my long life as a physicist. Anyone who has the faintest doubt that this is so should force himself to read the ClimateGate documents, which lay it bare. (Montford's book organizes the facts very well.) I don't believe that any real physicist, nay scientist, can read that stuff without revulsion. I would almost make that revulsion a definition of the word scientist.
The scientific method that helped birth the modern world centers on skeptical analysis of a body of information.  Sadly, that process has been reduced to mindlessly repeating mantras so the grant money keeps rolling in.

While the regular media will ignore it, hopefully, somewhere, a man will run into the brainwashing theater and throw the proverbial hammer through the screen.

Dr. Lewis has taken the first steps.  Read the rest of his resignation letter here.

God's Battalions

We swim in a sea of misinformation.  Every now and then, however, a book comes along that grinds misinformation into dust with facts.  "God's Battalions, The Case for the Crusades" by Rodney Stark is one of those books.

My study of the history of the Crusades taught me that the Crusaders went to the Holy Lands in part because of religious zeal, but in large part, for the chance at some wealth and glory.  I was taught that Saladin and the other Muslim defenders were pretty decent guys.  We learned that the Western way of war was inferior and more brutal to the kindly ways of the Mohammedans and of course, we owe all our great scientific and mathematical know-how to the great Islamic minds of the Middle East.

Not so fast, says author Stark.  For each of these commonly held assumptions, Mr. Stark points the reader to the facts.  Primary reason for the Crusades at the outset?  Muslim invaders imposing restrictions and then massacres on Christian pilgrimages to the Holy Land  (the Christians were there first and the Jews founded the place).  Western "ignorance" versus Eastern "genius?  Let's start with medicine - "Arab" medicine was in fact Nestorian Christian medicine. The Nestorians, in fact who revived ancient Greek manuscripts of Hipppocrates, Galen, Plato and Aristotle.  Technology?  After the Muslims overran North Africa, the wheel disappeared for hundreds of years.   Why?  Arabs didn't like the wheel, because it required building roads which they were incapable of.

Of their nobility in battle, Stark documents countless times when Crusader defenders would broker surrender terms only to be slaughtered.  Remember, lying to advance the faith is A-OK in the Islamist world.

One final myth busted: that all our trouble today in the Middle East is because the Crusaders were so naughty.  Utter nonsense.  That myth got started in 1899 with the publication of the first Muslim history of the Crusades.  As the Ottoman Empire collapsed as the true sick man of Europe and Muslim nationalism was picking up steam, the bad guy to blame for all their shortcomings became the West.  Now it's accepted dogma that we are to blame and we have Presidents kow-towing in Cairo and apologizing for events that never happened.

Pick up a copy - it's worth the read.

No Pressure: Eco Terrorists Sense of Humor

Ahh, British "humour" strikes again - not that Monty Python's Black Knight scene ("Come back, I'll gnaw you to death") isn't funny in a sick way - but this is not funny.  This is an "advert" produced to encourage people to cut their carbon emissions...no pressure:

Not sure when blowing up school children and co-workers became funny, but only a truly perverted mind could find this ad appropriate for any cause.  The none too subtle undertone - submit to the new religion or die - is uber-creepy.  Funny to have this news breaking in Britain whilst across the North Sea, they are forecasting the coldest winter in 1,000 years and in New Zealand, sheep are dying in droves thanks to the continuing blizzards.  But in the new religion of environazism, facts don't count.  It's all about the image of doing something "good," even if you have to kill some folks along the way.

Obama: The Bad Machine

Barry set a new all time low!  No wonder the Dems are abandoning him in droves...someone needs to tell Barry that he's a bad machine!

For those of you that have never seen "Midnight Express" from which this comes, it is terrifying.  We would show this as the crew movie in the Navy before pulling into ports in the Mediterranean.
