Economic Reporting: Then and Now

Excellent summary of what how useless the Fourth Estate has become. Hat tip Frank Strategies. Sadly though, it is still working on some people. Rumbler spoke with a good friend over the weekend...he voted for Obama. Midway through the conversation, friend says: "what could Obama do since he inherited such a huge deficit from Booosh?" "Quadruple it," says Rumbler..."he has."

do we really need to point at the differences in the WAY that $ is spent? infrastructure, re-regulating all the extant disasters, trying to force-feed the sheeple what's good for them even if they dont get it... come on. a pointless war, and bazillion-dollar tax cuts for the top 1%... now THERE'S spending we can all groove on, huh?

Whine whine whine... but still you live here, and still you stick your head in the sand pining for the reagan years. they are gone for good. And before long, the gays will have rights, stem cells will cure diseases, inefficient (thieving) financial-sector companies will have rules to play by again... and a short period of nasty-ass inflation will kill off the debt (just hope your 401k is in those inflation-adjusted securities...). and once again life will go on. only better (for everyone except you, i guess).

You know initially, I wasn't even going to bother to let this one through because it is so pathetically ignorant of what is going on.

Infrastructure? Balderdash - from the Washington Examiner:
"The real news about the stimulus is buried inside the Biden report. It says that as of May 5, $88 billion has been "obligated" for spending. "Obligated" is federalese for money that has been committed but not yet spent. A much smaller number, $28.5 billion, has actually been shoved out the door -- that is, $28.5 billion out of the stimulus total of $787 billion has so far been spent.

And where did it go? More than 95 percent has ended up in just two places: the Department of Health and Human Services and the Department of Labor. The Human Services money was poured into a program called FMAP, or the Federal Medical Assistance Program, where it was given to the states to help pay their Medicaid bills. The Labor money has gone for extended unemployment insurance benefits.

The report also shows that Health and Human Services will distribute by far the biggest chunk of stimulus money over the next year. The money has gone to HHS because it is the easiest place to spend lots of cash fast. But all that Medicaid and social services money, much of which will be used by state governments to cover their own spending excesses, is considered among the least stimulative parts of the stimulus bill."

95% for HHS and Dept of Labor you ignorant twit!

The tax cuts for top 1%? Get the facts: http://www.heritage.org/research/taxes/bg2001.cfm

Stop repeating senseless bibble babble that they instruct you to chant over at the Daily Kos.

You are obviously completely ignorant of what happened a) in the Reagan years and b) what happened the last time a quarter of this type of spending was tried. It wrecked the economy and Reagan brought us out of it. Oh yeah, a "period of nasty-ass inflation" is what we are in store for, you have no idea how bad it will be if this continues.

Your stupid re-statement about rights for gays is just that - no one is trying to restrict gays from doing what they want to do, but as the old adage goes, your rights end when your elbow meets my chin. Stop trying to force radical gay marriages and the entire homosexual agenda on the rest of the country.

Your moronic assertion about stem cells shows how pathetically ignorant you are of real medical progress...you probably believe that the evil Booosh prohibited ALL stem cells and ALL science was bad. Pathetic, at least learn to debate like an adult by getting some facts into your skull first.

But no, the real reason I let this one go through is the line "trying to force-feed the sheeple what's good for them..." That is it. That is the very nub of the problem with you leftists...you really have the hubris to believe that you know how to spend everyone else's money better than they do. The American people are not sheeple, my friend, they are the finest people on earth and this country has done so much for everyone else. I feel sorry for you that you grew up on a diet of pap about how baaad America is. Get out in the real world and find out how great she is. Then, maybe with a humble heart, and open mind, you will come to love her and see why people like me are so opposed to having our freedom taken away from us. Grow up!
