OK, Gibbsy says 9/11 was over the top...but take a look at his boss's reaction to the "joke."
It's a mindless "joke" anyway. Rush was very clear that he wanted Obama to fail if the policies he was advocating were socialist - which they are. That is a far cry from wanting the country to fail. But in typical simp-lib fashion, if you repeat the lie often enough, sooner or later it becomes truth.
Bottom line, these people have no class whatsoever. Can you imagine the firestorm that would have erupted if, while W was President, a comedian had gotten up and equated Hillary with a 9/11 hijacker? Political discourse in this country has become infantile. You cannot disagree with someone who is on the left without having the monkeys throw poo at you. Take, for example, Perez Hilton's lovely diatribe against Miss California because she does not approve of gay marriage:
That's what you get from the left nowadays - disagree with their position and you are a "dumb bitch." They follow up their hate-spew with either lame outs like Gibbsy gave or with full blown Krystallnacht tactics in an effort to shout down and intimidate any opposition.
If this is O's idea of "bringing us all together" and "putting aside childish things," we are in for a very long four years.

remember Colbert roasing W at this same event a few years back? people on the right were crawling up his ass for it, but everyone left of center was on the floor crying with laughter. its all about the willingness to laugh. if you didnt pretend to take yourself so seriously you might have fun one day. try it.
There is tasteful humor and there is repulsive stuff. This classless rant falls in the latter category.
not at all. i was in a roomful that watched it; everyone found it profoundly well-timed, well written, and well delivered. regardless of political bent. (we dont really know any loony-right people, of course, but regular conservative people found it entertaining) - you just dont like that it is your team getting the short end of it. WAAAHHHHH!
Rumbler is absolutely right. These kooks degrade our discourse and it is shameful. I love how the example your first poster used was another Bush bash. Everything is funny when Republicans are getting bashed as they do daily in the hate sites of the left. Humor against this president or any of his minions - the gays, the black radicals, the muslims etc. is not allowed. It's typical political correctness coupled with vile hate speech...oh, but it's not a hate crime when the target is a white guy is it?

you bitch about this one instance, but jon stewart and colbert do these kind of jokes everyday. and have a giant audience that laughs every day. they call it 'humor'. the fact that you dont get it (or pretend not to so you can pretend to be offended) clearly does not mean that it is without merit.
so lemme get this all lined up in my mind: you really think waterboarding is OK, but a joke about how rush is a fat-ass ex-druggie is NOT ok (he is incredibly fat, and he IS an (ex-?) druggie)? those are some WAY screwed-up values, guys.

there is no double standard except in your mind. funny is funny. if comments made by the loony-right get panned while wanda sykes doesnt... it is because SHE IS FUNNY. if something makes people laugh, it is fine. who cares if they are conservative-funny or liberal-funny. the blue-collar comedy guys are clearly pandering to the neanderthal NASCAR red-state crowd, but i enjoy their shows... because from time to time they are funny. (although i guess now that i think about it there arent any really good comedians on the right off the top of my head... you have a decent example of conserva-comedy?)
and don't give me hatefulness. rush is a fat guy who was addicted to hillbily heroin. pointing that out is what they call "funny because its true". just like pointing out that W spent more time clearing brush than governing was funny because it was true. see how 'humor' works? 75% of america gets it. you dont't because you are berefit of a sense of humor. it was replaced with false umbrage because rush told you to. and now you defent your knight when we make fun of his corpulent bloviating. someday the last horse will cross the finish line .. we will just keep waiting (and of course making fun of stuff while we wait).

I do not accept your premise that water boarding is torture and therefore do not need to defend my values against your childish attacks. As for humorists on the right - it is sad that you live in a cave. Rush, actually is fantastically funny and he does it without stooping to the classless humor you folks like, nor with hatred. Go pick up a P.J. O'Rourke book - not only will you laugh, you might also learn something.
Finally, I love your fantasies with numbers - 75% huh? I guess that's why CNN, MSNBC and the MSM is crushing FOX and why the New York Times is doing so well over say, the Wall Street Journal. The country is pretty damn evenly divided. But I guess your facility with numbers is what leads you to think that a $1.9 TRILLION budget deficit is a good thing.
Ignorant, hateful and without class...broaden your universe outside of spouting Kos and Huffpo talking points and you might actually gain in any of these three categories.
