When In Danger...

There's an old Navy saying, said with tongue planted firmly in cheek, "when in danger or in doubt, run in circles scream and shout." This is certainly a favored tactic of the left, particularly when it comes to their latest power grab - "global warming."

It is the custom of those of us on the conservative side of the aisle to respond to their bombast with calm, measured tones. Here is one of those responses - an excellent summary of the current "global warming" hoax. I know the Gorons will scream that "there is no debate!!!!!" But facts are funny little things...I am old enough to remember these same creeps scaring the hell out of us that we were all going to die in a new ice age. It's all about the power folks:

As noted earlier, the alarmists have learned well from the past. They saw what motivates policy makers is not necessarily just hard science, but a well-orchestrated symphony of effort. Their approach is calculated and deliberate. Remember the quote from one of the most outspoken alarmists, “We have to offer up scary scenarios, make simplified dramatic statements, and make little mention of the doubts we have.”

They have used that strategy to execute an orchestrated agenda over the last two decades:

  • Announce a disaster
  • Cherry pick some results
  • Back it up with computer modeling
  • Proclaim a consensus
  • Stifle the opposition
  • Take over the process and control the funding
  • Roll the policy makers

And the policy makers ARE getting rolled. Sad fact is it is the taxpayers that will foot the bill for this ludicrous "cap and trade" legislation that is being foisted on the Gullibullus Publicus Americanus. "Global warming" is just the fulcrum.

the link global warming link is full of erroneous nonsense. there is no factual basis for any of it -it misses the entire point.

once more, just in case you are reading any of this and might learn something:

if we do not pay attention to global pollution and climate issues, the day that it is suddenly plain to see (even for people like you) will be far too late to prevent the fallout. tetraethyl lead, and hydrocyanic acid, and dioxin, and CFCs, and PCBs... the list of incredibly harmful things done to the environment is just getting longer. You can pretend that it will never be a problem, but WHAT ABOUT THAT DAY WHEN IT IS?

the current financial crisis is a perfect microcosm: the result of people who should have been paying attention, pretending that all was well until everything was doomed all at once. if we wait for the environmental 'bubble' to burst.... all of earthbound humanity is in jeopardy. thats just the way it is. 'we need more research'. 'we need to wait until it is 100% understood'. 'there is no consensus'. all irrelevant. if we wait for everyone to agree that it is a survival issue (we know you will be the last man on a frozen/boiling/poisonous earth saying "this is all natural and ok") it will be too late. just like the banking crisis now. it was too late to fix it. trillions of $s of worldwide wealth lost.

what is the analog to that in the environmental movement? billions of people dead and the earth rendered inhospitable for human life. (the funny part is that i do think it would be great if several billion people died in a natural disaster or something; there are already far too many humans here to sustain long-term.) BUT, since drastic population-control measures are not forthcoming, we MUST pay attention to the impact of humans.

Does that compute? or are you seeing some data point that the rest of us are not?

(don't give me 'small-businessess need to pollute'. that's demonstrably false. and dont give me religious answers about the rapture rendering it irrelevant. i want a real, meaningful answer about what it is you think is the end result of an unregulated polluter's market. 10 years from now? 50? 100?)

Come on, let's hear what it is your brain is doing with the available data...

Wow - what a sad world Anonymous lives in.

1. The global warming business is a hoax - look at the data. We have actually been cooling over the last ten years. It has much more to do with sunspots than human activity on the planet.

2. Of course we should be responsible in how we develop, limit pollutants etc. No one is saying "let's trash the earth." The reality is, we live in a much cleaner country now than just twenty years ago.

3. Again you want to surrender your freedom feeling you are incompetent or unable to do anything on your own...give everything to your god - Government, with it's two great prophets, Obama and Algore. Simply put, I don't.

4. Your obsession with population re-emerges. Let progress come and populations flatten out - look at Europe, Japan and without immigration, the United States. The pro-abortion crowd has sold you a bill of goods on this. We live in a bountiful earth.

5. READ the posts before spouting off the Marxist talking points.

your issue is the use of "global warming" which nobody in the scientific community actually uses. more strawmen... you get 'em!

"global climate change" is in fact incredibly dangeroius, and happening. do you know what thermohaline circulation is? i kinda doubt it.. but look it up,and its relation to ocean salinity level, and THAT relationship to the temperatures of various parts of the globe. I know you dont care if london or paris turns into the north pole, but the rest of us (who recognize that we are in fact a part of the world here in america) would prefer not to mess with these things far too complex for even the most sophisticated supercomputers to model. but o keep forgetting... if we all listened to rumbler (the smartest man every to live... yeah... something like that) we will all be fine. because after all, you said so, and we arent doomed YET...

look, the whole point is that tiny changes to something as small as, say, the salinity of the mediterranean sea (or whatever) can drastically alter the entire surface of the globe. parts will get warmer, parts will get colder, and all of it will be far less hospitable to people.

This is all science that happened AFTER the 1930's, so I am unsurprised that it is beneath your level of consciousness... but it remains true.

and my analogy is damned apt. you dont know what the saturation level is. nobody does. so pretending that you are magically endowed with the foreknowledge that we will all be fine no matter what... is just reatrded man. get a grip. you are NOT the smartest man alive, and the people who are, say your ideas are bunk. sad, but true...

You are right about straw men - when it became apparent that "global warming" was a total hoax, the loons adopted the phrase "climate change" in order to keep the religio...err...movement alive. "Climate change" exists! Alleluia! It can be scientifically proven that the climate has changed numerous times in the course of the 3.5 billion or so years the Earth has been around...it will keep changing for the next 3 billion or so years before the Sun expands out and turns it all into a radioactive heap. Not even Algore can stop that.

Here's another fact - the same models that forecast the weather are used on this "climate change" science. You know, the one that said I'm supposed to be ducking a huge thunderstorm right now under my clear blue sky?

There are things on the margin that we can do to improve our atmosphere and our water, and no one is opposed to those. Those of us who are opposed to the client change ideology are opposed to it because the people behind it want to regulate our lives...not into that.

Look at the original post and the steps that are followed by the Envirocrazies...same ones used by the Bolsheviks and Obama, I would add, and you might see why we reject these attempts at power grabs.

P.S. - I am well aware what THC is - I used to hunt submarines for a living. Biggest known shift was after the last Ice Age...I don't remember what kind of automobiles were around then.
