Sick and tired of being told how little U.S. companies pay in taxes?  Yeah, me too.  Wonder why they spend millions with accountants and tax attorneys to avoid paying taxes?  Here's a chart from a recent report issued by KPMG that tells that tale (you can access the full report here):

Guess what happens when you have rates this high?  Oh never mind, if you are reading this blog, you already know.  Save this chart to throw in the face of a simplib...they hate "facts," it's like holy water on vampires.

No it's not quite that simple, but when you have a vaunted "Commission" present a report that doesn't touch the single largest expansion of bennies and redistribution from the government (lean in, I'll whisper it to ya - "Obamacare") and we are supposed to take it seriously?  The good news is that they didn't recommend some kind of value-added sales tax to bridge the gap.

We are going to have to behave like adults to tackle this problem.  Obama has begrudgingly admitted that cutting taxes stimulates the economy - duh - let's cut all the taxes we can, especially corporate ones and then zero in on the spending.  We need to develop a priority list that can be submitted to the American people.  Would you rather keep bad guys away from our shores or get free drugs?  If your answer has to do with killing bad guys, we still have to drill down on how we can do that most efficiently.  We are running out of time:

The depressing fact is that the longer we perpetuate the illusion of endless entitlements, the greater the risk we will end up seeing this:

This is a little dated, but I just stumbled upon it.  It's a well organized group of fanatics screaming at the Pope in London during Benedict's last visit this past September.  It's very difficult to watch all ten minutes of them spewing their hatred, but the highlight is about 8 or so minutes in when the Popemobile goes by and they scream "Burn, burn, burn in hell."  This is what all of Western Europe is dealing with - a militant, ugly, bigoted lot.  As I have said often on these pages, if we don't wake up in this country, we will be dealing with the same thing.  Watch this and ask yourself if the Ground Zero mosque makes ANY sense.

You work hard raising your son...you take him to the football games, you teach him to be a gentleman.  You sit through the hours of wrestling meets watching him get pinned...you work with him on his homework.  You hope he can get into a "good" school and really make something of his life.  The college acceptance letters come and you find out it's going to be Napa Valley College!  Yay!

You fill up the U-Haul trailer and help him move into his dorm room at NVC and after three years of college (with 5 more ahead, no doubt) he sends you a link to his latest video so you can catch up on what he's doing - other than majoring in Feminist Studies:

You can't understand why he wants to wear make-up like a panda.  He's forgotten that there is a "Senate" and a "House," not two of each.  Why can't his classmates spell "ILLEGAL?"  Does Napa Valley College's hunger management program teach that three slices of pizza is starving?
