“We should never despair, our Situation before has been unpromising and has changed for the better, so I trust, it will again. If new difficulties arise, we must only put forth new Exertions and proportion our Efforts to the exigency of the times.” —George Washington

A History and Economics Lesson
This piece from the Wall Street Journal offers both a history lesson and an economics lesson. These are crucial lessons that need to be applied today, because the wrong thinking that got us into the Great Depression govern the thinking of the Democrat party and, to a large extent, the Republican party. Two key points: 1) the government and the economy are not large corporations that need to be effectively, centrally managed AND 2) you can't tax your way out of a downturn! Final lesson that is not taught in the civics books of our blighted public schools: FDR did not get us out of the Great Depression - World War II did.
