Hitch on Mumbai

Christopher Hitchens is a liberal with a brain that I respect a lot. This is his piece on solidarity with India and it is very well crafted:

An impressive thing about India is the way in which it has almost as many Muslim citizens, who live with greater prospects of peace and prosperity, as does Pakistan. This comity and integration is one of the many targets of the suicide killers, and it is another reason why firm, warm solidarity with India is the most pressing need of the present hour.

Give it a read, you won't regret it.

FRED!

We're a little partial to Fred Thompson in these parts, but this is beautiful!

Nihilism

This is a terrific editorial from Investor's Business Daily, titled "The Spread of Nihilism's Bloody Stain." There is a confusion in the West over the so-called "clash of cultures." This is not a cultural war as much as a temporal one. One side, Islamic Fascism, wants to return the world to a 12th Century model. The other side, the West, thinks that we will offend them if we are not more inclusive and stresses the importance of diversity. Balderdash! This is war people, wake up. If you need more evidence - as if the events of the last ten years are not enough, click here and watch this short movie. If that is not enough, click here, and watch some more.

Cartoon Characters for Cigarettes

Not really on point, but don't you miss those days when you could get cartoon characters to hawk smokes?

Moveon on the Upper West Side

...these are the idiots that won the election? No wonder Barry O is staying away from them in his cabinet selections.

Is it just me?

Is it just me, or is this headline strange: "Obama Promotes Fiscal Restraint, Big Spending." I guess we are all supply-side Keynesians now?

Christmas In The Trenches

I've always loved this song...as we begin Advent, let us not forget.
