Dead Sister's Dentures

You are right...we don't believe you;  and the only connection between healthcare and manufacturing is your boss, the unions.  They wrecked American manufacturing and they want to bring the same level of care, quality and negotiating chutzpah to the healthcare table.  You are despicable.

Saving Obama

Enough of the pundit class has already written extensively about today's healthcare "summit" that I don't want to waste any more gigabytes of bile on this idiocy...just a couple of quick thoughts:

  • We have a Constitution that tells us how to craft legislation - silly summitry is not part of it.  If the Dems had wanted to do it right, they should have engaged the Republicans from the beginning.  They didn't want to.  They still don't want to.  This is a show.
  • The Dems believe they will be able to blame the Repubs for healthcare reform failure.  What they fail to realize is that by blocking this monstrosity they may have saved Obama from himself.
  • This is all about rallying Dems to push it through on a reconciliation vote...nice cup of hemlock for every Donk seeking reelection this year - CNN says only 25% support it - yeah, that's nicer than pointing out that 75% hate it!

Why Do We Want to Emulate Europe?

Any sentient person can browse the British papers and quickly see horror stories about their health care system.  Here's one from this morning: "Cheerleader has leg amputated after Doctors dismiss cancer as 'growing pains.'"  Four separate times over four months, Shannon Corr, was refused the opportunity to get a more comprehensive examination at a hospital because, her GP believed she was suffering from growing pains.  The pain became so bad that her mother took her to the hospital anyway claiming she had fallen so she could receive an examination.  The cancer was so far along that to save her life, they had to amputate the leg above the knee.

Think about this America, is this what you want for your children?

NASA's New Mission

Now that the Moon shot, the Mars mission and all that other fun stuff has been cancelled by Obama and the boys, looks like NASA has a new mission:

NASA Scientists Plan To Approach Girl By 2018

The Shape of Things to Come: Greece

Greece has taught us so many lessons through the millennia.  Now, they are teaching again - this time, it is what the end game of socialism looks like: "Nationwide Strike Paralyzes Greece."

The public and private sector unions took to the streets to protest government austerity measures.  Hmm, now why would he government need "austerity measures?" Well, they are broke.  "Why," I hear you ask, "are they broke?"  Well, because the unions kept getting more and more and to pay for it they taxed the private sector to death and killed off all entrepreneurship and job creation.

"Jeez, Rumbler, that sounds familiar!"

You bet, just like the UAW wrecked the American automobile industry, and the SEIU is bankrupting the state of California, the difference is we had more money to start with than the Greeks.  Sadly, with the path we are on, it is only a matter of time.

As always, we have been warned.

Obama Success!

Now I know many of you believed that this was our fate:

Now living in Middle Tennessee, that was going to make our drive to the beach a whole lot shorter...but along came Santa Obamista who famously declared that "this is the day the oceans levels began to fall..."  And unlike all the rest of the hopey change stuff he palavered about, on this one, he has actually delivered!  We here at the Rumbler Report are keen to acknowledge success when it occurs - it's getting way to easy to highlight the failures.  Guess what, the IPCC in a continuing string of retractions has now declared that the sea levels are in fact stable and not rising:

Announcing the formal retraction of the paper from the journal, Mark Siddall, from the Earth Sciences Department at the University of Bristol, said: "It's one of those things that happens. People make mistakes and mistakes happen in science." He said there were two separate technical mistakes in the paper, which were pointed out by other scientists after it was published. A formal retraction was required, rather than a correction, because the errors undermined the study's conclusion.
"Retraction is a regular part of the publication process," he said. "Science is a complicated game and there are set procedures in place that act as checks and balances."
Nature Publishing Group, which publishes Nature Geoscience, said this was the first paper retracted from the journal since it was launched in 2007.
The paper – entitled "Constraints on future sea-level rise from past sea-level change" – used fossil coral data and temperature records derived from ice-core measurements to reconstruct how sea level has fluctuated with temperature since the peak of the last ice age, and to project how it would rise with warming over the next few decades.
In a statement the authors of the paper said: "Since publication of our paper we have become aware of two mistakes which impact the detailed estimation of future sea level rise. This means that we can no longer draw firm conclusions regarding 21st century sea level rise from this study without further work.

Way to go Barry - you didn't even have to raise your hand to bring this miracle about.

Cause for Celebration!!

Well, at least at the Carter house there is...

Harry, Harry, Harry...

Ol Harry Reid just keep doing the old wingtip switcheroo in his mouth.  Now, he says men get abusive when they are unemployed.  According to the Hill:

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) suggested Monday that domestic violence by men has increased due to U.S. joblessness.
Reid, speaking in the midst of a Senate debate over whether to pass a $15 billion package meant to spur job creation, appeared to argue that joblessness would lead to more domestic violence.
"I met with some people while I was home dealing with domestic abuse. It has gotten out of hand," Reid said on the Senate floor. "Why? Men don't have jobs."

Well, let's hope he can control his temper come November:

Obamapoly

Object of the game?  Destroy capitalism!
How is that hopey change thing working for ya?

It's Over...

In a "parable" about a country called "Basicland,"  Charlie Munger says "Basically It's Over..."  Charlie is Warren Buffett's long time business partner, so it is probably worth a listen.  Essentially, the story of Basicland is a parallel, not a parable about the United States.  The end game of a country that becomes dependent on foreign "coal and oil," whose major industry becomes casino gambling and financial derivatives, that consumes far beyond their means and who loses all ability to manufacture is "Sorrowland."

Headed for the Alfalfa Again!

Hocheemama!  Obama starts talking about healthcare again and look what happens to his numbers.

The Enemy Among Us

This is truly disturbing - an American university invites an Ambassador of a sovereign nation to speak and this is how he is treated:

Something has gone very wrong when basic rules of civility cannot be observed. As the Ambassador state: "This isn't London, this isn't Jerusalem, this isn't Tehran..." We have allowed these thugs to multiply in our universities and now we are paying the price.

A Psychiatrist Looks at Obama

BIG HAT tip to Doug Ross for this, and it needs to be widely disseminated.  This is a look at Obama from the perspective of a psychiatrist who has been practicing for 30 years.  More importantly though, this is a study in character of what it means to come from the Chicago machine: A Practicing Psychiatrist Looks at Obama.

I want to add some caution to this piece.  There was a big hullaballoo a year ago or so about the Israeli doctor that psycho-analyzed O and while seemingly accurate, it turned out to be a hoax.  I've traced this doctor that wrote the article and above and it seems to be the real deal.  Funny thing is though, if you read both articles, even if they are posted as hoaxes, they are eerily accurate.  Obama is a man who comes from a background of having everything taken care of for him.  He is strangely detached and immature, taking all criticism personally.  He also suffers from some serious weird delusional fantasy about his own skills - remember the oceans were going to recede?  I'll bet the folks in Washington, Baltimore and Philly right now would settle for just enough hot air to make some of their snow go away!

If Only...

With all the whining he does and his painfully obvious lack of experience, you wonder if he doesn't want to do this sometime.  Right now there are a heckuva lot of Democrats who wish he would!  Hell, Indianapolis is ticked because he picked the Colts to win the Superbowl.  He's toxic to the health of this country and needs to go.

When Do We Get To Call It A HOAX??

Over the weekend, yet another revelation of fraud and unchecked data came out of the UN's climate change lunacy, the International Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).  The Telegraph is reporting that on top of the typo (2305 if ever, versus 2035) about the Himalayas, now they have admitted mucking up wave data: "New Errors in IPCC Climate Report."

With DC buried under a glacier over the weekend, maybe our own press will start reporting on this scandal.  And, maybe, just maybe, the nonsense of cap and trade will finally be tossed overboard with the rest of the trash.

Losing Eastern Europe

Apparently part of the "Reset" strategy of the Obama administration includes ceding Western influence in Eastern Europe.  The first domino appears to have now fallen as Ukraine has elected a new President that leans back towards Moscow, erasing the winds of freedom that blew in the Orange Revolution of 2004.  The parallels to Jimmy Carter's weakness that resulted in Soviet emboldenment could not be more clear.  The two key movements that this dithering, hapless foreign policy team have shown the master chess players of Moscow, confirmed what they already knew - Barry O will back down.  First, we sent Hillary Clinton over with that ridiculous "Reset Button."  Remember this:
Of course it turns out that "peregruzka" has nothing to do with "reset."  In fact, it means either "cargo transfer" or "overload."  Regardless of it's meaning, the symbology could not have been clearer:  "we are changing course from the BAAAD Bush days where they were so mean to you!"  Russian translation:  "you guys are weak, and we will exploit this situation.  There is no question that Bush misread the Russians early on - remember that horrifying "I looked into his eyes..." comment about Putin.  The reality is that from the days of the Dukes of Muscovy, the only language they understand and respect is force.

The second faux pas by these incompetents was pulling the plug on Polish missiles.  The Russians have never liked short range missiles anywhere near them (neither for that matter do we), but these were meant to deter Iranian progress and protect Europe from that threat, not intimidate the Russians.  There was plenty of room to maneuver there, but that chance is now gone.  Again, what was the Russian translation?  "This guy makes Jimmy Carter look like Ronald Reagan!"

This is not to say our two countries cannot get along, they can.  But we need to be clear in our understanding about the greater Russian paranoia that drives their foreign policy.  They have been invaded by land by the French and the Germans and they harbor a grudge against the progress of the West.  The paranoia drives them to seek a buffer - that's where Ukraine comes in.  The Ukrainians long for freedom, but they cannot afford it if it means Russian meddling and threatening.  Without western support, they have no choice but to go back under the Soviet, err, Russian umbrella.

While the election results are not yet confirmed, and there are a lot of allegations of fraud, a victory by Yanukovich is a victory for the Kremlin.  And remember, the Russians have always been damned good at subterfuge; mucking up an election so their guy can win is a walk in the park. So instead of working towards a relationship of mutual respect and cooperation, Obama's weakness has roused the Russian bear.  I don't blame the Russians for being opportunistic - it's good chess to exploit the weakness of your opponent and gain strategic advantage.  But, like all liberal pipe dreams, the law of unintended consequences again rears its ugly head.

With Ukraine back in the fold, the other former Soviet satellites have to start rethinking their position.  Their choice will be to either succumb to the incessant pressure from Moscow, or man up and arm up.  The former situation creates panic in places like Poland and the Czech Republic, which increases the instability of the region.  The latter just directly increases the instability of the region.  Liberals' child like understanding of the role of strength in world affairs is creating yet another mess.  And the lesson of exploitation of weakness is not lost on people like Kim Jong Il, Hugo Chavez and Achmadinijad. There is a darkness creeping across the globe as hope for freedom is snuffed out.  How's that for hopey change?

A "Corpse Man"

I guess if you've never served, you wouldn't know how to pronounce it, but if you are Commander in Chief, shouldn't you know?

Obama at the Prayer breakfast mis-pronouncing Corpsman.

Obama's Brown Shirt Squad

This is really frightening - the President having his own organization behind the scenes trying to influence the Congress.  Note it is Plouffe who is doing the talking in the first one.  The second one is just plain creepy.  Bear in mind that this man was elected to be President of a country, it's chief executive, not the head of a cult.

Arming the IRS?

I am a big fan of shotguns - love the Remington Wingmaster - but can someone tell me what the IRS is doing arming themselves with police grade 12-guage pump shotguns?

From the solicitation:
The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) intends to purchase sixty Remington Model 870 Police RAMAC #24587 12 gauge pump-action shotguns for the Criminal Investigation Division. The Remington parkerized shotguns, with fourteen inch barrel, modified choke, Wilson Combat Ghost Ring rear sight and XS4 Contour Bead front sight, Knoxx Reduced Recoil Adjustable Stock, and Speedfeed ribbed black forend, are designated as the only shotguns authorized for IRS duty based on compatibility with IRS existing shotgun inventory, certified armorer and combat training and protocol, maintenance, and parts.

Like Obama, I am not a constitutional scholar, but I don't remember a provision for armed seizure of assets to satisfy an IRS claim.  I fully understand that a perp might get violent, but that's what police and FBI are for. This by the very same people who want to limit our access to firearms?
